CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST on future visions and research directions 2025-27 in the area of Cloud-to-Edge-to-IoT for European Data
Under Horizon Europe’s Cluster 4, the European Commission supports a new strategy for the next generation of the Cloud-Edge-IoT continuum with more intelligence and autonomy at the edge. R&I investments under WP2020-23 focused on establishing a baseline technology and emerging system concepts based on the cloud-edge computing paradigms by building on relevant elements of computing, connectivity, IoT, AI and cybersecurity. Further R&I is devoted to the development of a Cognitive Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum, as a hyper-distributed computing approach that exploits AI techniques to advance automation and dynamic adaptation of resource management across IoT devices and Edge and Cloud computing models. But what comes next beyond 2025?
DG CONNECT launches an expression of interest to contribute to and invites everyone who wishes to express their visionary perspectives on the future of the European research and innovation programmes 2025-2027 under the above areas, looking at new ways for managing the Cloud to Edge continuum, capturing new trends like from MetaOS towards MetaWeb, for industrial IoT towards a Metaverse@theEdge, for radically new Software Engineering Challenges or related big game changers.
It should help guide the Commission on future disruptive trends, radically new visions, and emerging game changers for the Cloud-Edge-IoT research domain and help structure our future R&I policy for the work programme 2025-27.
This call for expressions of interest is co-organised by the European Commission, EUCloudEdgeIoT and SWForum.eu. We are thrilled to invite you to submit your input by April 14, 2023.
Please submit your input to info@eucloudedgeiot.eu with the email subject "EoI 2025-2027", covering trends, technologies, and impact within a 2-page paper.
Your paper needs to be structured around the following topics:
- Motivation
- Current Status
- Research Challenges
All vision papers are screened in a confidential manner and a selection is planned to be invited to present during a consultation meeting in Brussels, on 11 May 2023. If you have further questions do not hesitate to get in touch with us at cnect-e4-events@ec.europa.eu.
